Death: forum demands charge-sheet

DEMANDING ACTION:Members of Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam staging a demonstration in Tirunelveli on Sunday.
TIRUNELVELI: Members of Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam staged a demonstration in front of Tirunelveli railway station on Sunday demanding immediate filing of charge-sheet in the case pertaining to the drowning of a school boy in a swimming pool.
The protestors said that a student, Ashiq (8) drowned in the pool at Anna Stadium during a swimming coaching class on June 27, 2009.
As there were no adequate safety measures and there was no proper supervision by the teachers, the boy drowned, they alleged.
“Though the teachers' lack of attention led to the tragedy, no action was taken against the school administration and no charge sheet filed in this case. We suspect that the police was trying to bury the facts and protect the culprits. Hence we demand a thorough enquiry, inclusion of all culprits as accused and immediate filing of charge sheet,” said the speakers during the protest.
TMMK office-bearers Usman Khan, Maideen Farook, Maideen Sait Khan and others spoke.
